It’s almost time for me to move out across the world :) Since I will be bringing my laptop, I took this opportunity to clean out my desktop as I will no longer be depending on it for work. Back in 2007 I carefully set up the airflow in the case to minimize dust. Three years later I was happy to find that there was very little dust.

While I’m sure the purists would hate my poor cable management and lack of water cooling, I’m fairly happy with my two pieces of foam-core :) You may notice the extra fan on the ram… this was an unfortunate necessity. When the case is in the vertical position (as apposed to horizontally in a rack) a nasty air pocket develops right over the ram causing their temperature to increase to over 100 degrees C. Being FB-Dimms, standard ram heat sinks will not fit over the AMB, so improvisation was needed.
